Your Arrival

Join us at Aschworth Homestead at 9.30am where you will be welcomed by our team and enjoy a lovely farm style morning tea and space to finish getting ready for your first day walking. There is secure parking for your car provided and time to browse our onsite farm shop.

A briefing with our friendly host will set the scene for what is in store for the next 3 days/2 nights, before you set off on your first day’s walk on Aschworth Station. We recommend you set off between 10.30-11.00am. Your overnight bags will be transferred to your luxury glamping accommodation.

Day 1 - Marlborough

Terrain Overview

Today you will cover grassland and traverse some steep high-country terrain, alongside the lovely Wards Creek and ridgelines with incredible views over to Wellington on a nice day, views into neighboring valleys and across Marlborough are absolutely stunning. The track is approximately 10.4kms today, taking between 3-7 hours depending on your walking ability.

There is an easier option of walking straight to the campsite, approximately 1-3 hours walk.

You will descend directly onto the glamping site today through some lovely native bush amongst farmland.

Terrain Overview

Today’s track takes you up Wards creek heading towards the top of the Brancott Valley. There are a couple of different options for day two depending on how eager you are and your ability.

Option One - Walking up Wards creek and then taking a good hike up hill into what we call tent hill, this part of the track is pretty neat with lots of high-country rock and beautiful native bush, not to mention the views up here - 10.5kms. You can also summit Wards Peak today a tickable peak in Marlborough - approximately 11.2kms and an extra 2.5kms to some lovely natural swimming/relaxation pools.

Option Two - Takes you in the opposite direction to option one and is a full loop, not for the faint hearted - summiting Wards Peak and is 17kms.

Option Three - You can take an easy day here and enjoy a leisurely walk up to some pools to relax, read a book, enjoy the bird song and perhaps take a dip in one of the swimming holes.

Day 2 — Wards Peak

Day Two

Get up at your leisure today - keeping in mind which track you would like to walk and how long it might take - you don’t want to miss out on drinks and nibbles!!

Depending on the track you choose and your walking speed, your walk today could be anywhere between 2-8 hours.

Tonight you are staying in the same location, so make yourself comfortable, relax and enjoy the serenity of being in the Marlborough High Country, nestled in your own private valley.

Day Two includes a gourmet breakfast to your liking, with plenty of selection, just finish off what you’d like and enjoy the peacefulness of the countryside.

A gourmet packed morning tea and lunch, including freshly squeezed juice - lunchboxes provided.

Don’t worry - it’s all different from Day One!

Day Three

Enjoy your last morning in this tranquil setting before setting off. You will need to leave by 9.30am

Your bags will be transported back to the homestead and will be ready for you on your return.

Big screen stretch Pilates will be available on our wool yoga mats for anyone wanting a good stretch out. Showers are available for use prior to departure.

We will serve a delicious light lunch at the homestead and departure by 2pm - to avoid the chaos of after school life at Aschworth!

Day 3 — Homestead

Terrain Overview

Today you will meander home through the middle of our farm, reaching our east boundary and a trig site which takes in some breathtaking views that you wouldn’t have seen yet.

Today is approximately 5.2kms.

It’s an easier day today, after an initial climb out of the glamping site .

Enjoy some morning tea on your travels and then we welcome you back to the homestead for lunch.

Day Three includes a gourmet breakfast to your liking, with plenty of selection, just finish off what you’d like and enjoy the peacefulness of the countryside.

Take a gourmet packed morning tea and arrive back to the homestead before lunchtime.

Lunch today will be served at the homestead, in the garden if the weather permits! A light and refreshing lunch before you depart Aschworth feeling revitalized.
